And Now, A Few Post-Allman Brothers Finale Words From Dickey Betts


We all knew that some reporter would be sure to ask Allman Brothers Band co-founder Dickey Betts for his (extended) thoughts about the Allman Brothers on the occasion of the band’s (supposed) last gig, which was held a few days ago at the Beacon Theater in New York. And while he made a few complimentary remarks during his discussion with Ticket Sarasota, he made a few that were less than.

Two of the comments by Betts, who left the band in 2000 and was not present for the final show, concerned how the band “made a big mistake when they started eating their young;” another salvo concerned how the Allmans turned into a “tribute band” (is there anything wrong with a good tribute band?).
