Guess What’s Been Named for Ozzy …


It’s a bit ridiculous, but probably fitting when you get down to it: A new species of tree frog with a bat-like call has been discovered in the Amazon, and the folks who did the discovering have named it after heavy metal crooner Ozzy Osbourne.

The species, which is now known as dendropsophus ozzyi, wasn’t so named in reference to the Black Sabbath frontman’s well-documented “performance” during a meeting of record company execs — the one that ended when he rather merrily bit the head off of a live bat.
