Neil Young Says He’s Done With Starbucks

It looks like Neil Young has more on his mind these days than being honked off at David Crosby and the alleged end of Crosby, Still, Nash & Young.

It turns out that Ol’ Neil apparently enjoys a morning latte, but he’s going to start saving the money that he’s been spending at Starbucks — due to what he perceives as the coffee megachain’s involvement with corporate behemoth Monsanto in a lawsuit against the state of Vermont.

But according to, while Starbucks is a member of the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) and the GMA is challenging Vermont over genetically modified organism (GMO) labeling requirements, Starbucks has not joined forces with Monsanto in any legal action. Read more at

As noted by the Genetic Literacy Project and as previously reported by Stereogum, a law was passed in Vermont this year that requires food producers to label all food containing GMOs by July 2016 (not including dairy products, meat, alcohol and food served in restaurants). Monsanto is among the companies fighting the new regulation.
