‘I Went Down to the Crossroads …’

Crossroads

… in Clarksdale, Miss.

Numerous well-known acts have recorded renditions of the song that was originally written by Robert Johnson as “Cross Road Blues” — which is now better known as “Crossroads,” and were usually inspired by the arrangement that hit No. 28 on the Billboard pop chart in 1969 for Cream. They include the Allman Joys (who became better known as the Allman Brothers), the Doors, Free, Jeff Healey, Cyndi Lauper, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Mayer, Phish, Paul Rodgers, Rush, Todd Rundgren, Robin Trower, Leslie West, and Johnny Winter.
